Sonic - Visuals For Music
I’ve had this book for a while but only recently have I really been using it as a resource. It’s brilliant, the content inside is inspirational to anyone working, not just specifically, in graphic design for the music industry. It features a wide range of work from a huge variety of artists and design houses. The book is split into two main sections with a reference and contacts section forming the appendix. The first half of the book covers record and CD sleeves as well as promotional material and packaging. The second section of the book is dedicated to poster design and that is my favourite section in the book. There is a lot of familiar work featured in the book and I wasn’t surprised to see several works of art that feature in my CD and vinyl collection displayed in this book in all their glory.
I’ve found the rear section to be particularly useful as it features a comprehensive index which lists the names of clients, the names of the work and contact details for the artists.
